Program Development Process
Our program development process begins each year with an overall programs budget, seeded with funds from individuals, corporations and foundations and includes an overall programs grant from The Houston Endowment.

Individual programs are initiated in response to community needs, as communicated through our board of advisors in annual and monthly board meetings. These seeded programs are sustained through creative ARTreach partnerships and community awareness campaigns. Our campaigns help communicate the social service needs being addressed and help prompt the community to respond to and support the campus served, or ARTreach agency program in need.

ARTreach has facilitated many social service agencies’ efforts to establish an integrated fine arts program as part of their core treatment and educational plan. In some cases, once the ability of these programs to help the agency achieve its educational or therapeutic benefits has been demonstrated, the programs can be sustained by the social service agency or campus budget directly, with funding from the State of Texas. For ARTreach, this is a major goal achieved, as we see the underserved becoming the served! ARTreach attention can then be focused elsewhere.

ARTreach programs support Texas Educational Agency (TEA) Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) objectives. Programs also support the goals established through the partnership between The National Endowment for the Arts and the US Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Delinquency and Prevention, by integrating conflict resolution education and the arts.
